First off. Nobody’s getting shot here (except in soft focus amirite #rimshot).

Thirdly. Who’s beefing? I feel like I should be most likely to have a nemesis here! Am I in a bunch of beef’s and just don’t know it? If we are currently fighting let me know and we can arrange some sort of public blowout.

And to conclude, #menswear does take itself too seriously, but we love it anyway.

Superfuture has a thread called “Fuck #menswear”. Why is anyone shocked by this? They’ve always been seen as the alternative to traditional menswear, so the news that they don’t like what’s being displayed at Pitti shouldn’t be surprising. And why are people taking comments on people’s clothing as attacks on their inner child? People need to make like this EPMD song and chill. It’s getting real emotional around these menswear parts.

I have said for sometime now that the menswear blog game is VERY much like the rap game, and I think most of my fellow hip-hop heads will agree that the beef era of hip-hop from about ‘92 to ‘03 was the best. While literal shots being fired is never good, the fact that you had people going at one another made for great music. Biggie v. Pac, Cube v. Common, Nas v. Jay, 50 v. Ja Rule, Em v. Benzino/The Source, Jeezy v. Gucci the list goes on and on. It forced all parties involved to come correct with everything they did because they knew that if they slipped up it was more fodder for their opposition. The same can be said for menswear: sometimes you need differing opposing voices to push one another. It forces you to think about why you dress the way you do. My only advice is if you are going to criticize someone’s dress, do so intelligently and not just, “Look at this dickhead taking himself too seriously.” *Drops two cents in to empty bucket*

Comparing menswear blogging beefs to rap beefs is case in point why we shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously.

Superfuture’s got me wondering what, exactly, I’m setting out to accomplish and how I can do a better job of it. Congrats, Superfuture, you’ve convinced me to fart around your forums again.
