First Friday.
Today is First Friday in Portland, also there was a Jehovah Witnesses convention behind the store (apparently they love to shop), also there was a cruise ship in town. It was a zoo at my job all day. Fortunately it was beautiful and the secret park I eat lunch in was open again after months of construction.
And am I the only one who thinks a palette of white, green, blue and brown is pretty great for summer?

Thrifted:
Vtg. Southwick Sport Coat (I think it’s a wool/linen blend)
Vtg. Van Heusen “Profiles” OCBD
Paul Stuart Linen Tie
Green Sperry Topsiders
Vtg. “Golden Weave” Irish Linen Pocket Square
Bosses are out of town. Time to dress down…
Nah, I’m just kidding, I work at a consignment store, I can wear whatever the goddamn fuck I please! (well… maybe not the leopard print loincloth my friends were suggesting the other night).
Either way, this is kind of momentous, I’m… (wait for it…) repeating an outfit (from way way back on easter).
Summer is rapidly coming to a close. Hope everyone is ready to hit the thrifts to stock up on nerdy tweed jackets and burly work boots. I’m sick of Neapolitan tailoring. I want some tweed, denim, and wolverines.
This is what I mean by no inspiration.
It’s 88 degrees w/ 70% humidity (and rising).
I don’t have A/C.
The ocean is still too cold to go into.
Even maximalists have to deal with sweat.
WIWT: White Hanes V-neck t-shirt, J-Crew Chinos (rolled hipster bike messenger style), Quoddy boat shoes, black aviators
If I was a famous style blogger this shit would absolutely blow up the internet.
WIWY
Call it a nautical day.
Quoddy Boat Shoes
Dad Jeans (like they wear on a motherfucking boat)
Lobster Belt
Gingham Shirt (ok… not nautical, so sue me)
Vintage Madras Bow Tie (probably shipped here on a boat at some point in its life cycle)
Casual Fribsday. Picking strawberries. Wearing my new (to me) Quoddy boat shoes. They’re pretty comfy, maybe not $250 comfy, but certainly $5 comfy.
Sidenote: I left NYC about 2 1/2 years ago now. While I miss it sometimes, I can’t tell you the joy of going out on a beautiful day and picking 10lbs of strawberries. I may love the amenities of cities. But Portland is pretty unique that I can be picking rows of strawberries on the countryside inside of 30 mins.
Friday - This is starting to feel like a slog. I’m just not myself dressing this simply. I always reach for my lime green university stripe shirt and go “a couple more days” then grab the white OCBD. Ashley said today “you look like an A-murican , except if you really looked like that nothing would really fit.” So… I guess that’s good. At least my clothes fit.
This experiment is definitely giving me more appreciation for guys who keep it simple and classy every day. But I can’t wait til Sunday when I’ll probably wear gingham/madras/stripes and checks just because I can. (I might keep that outfit to myself to avoid burning any retinas on the internet.)
Ultimate simplicity is white OCBD, 505 jeans, sebago docksides, and a red stripe on a navy canvas belt. Oh yeah, and aviator knockoffs.
One more day… just one more day…
