So Etsy listings expire after 4 months. Here’s some pretty spectacular stuff that didn’t sell during the winter, 20% off my already eminently reasonable prices.
I know you were just waiting for that ridiculously awesome Johnny Carson 2 piece vest/sport coat set to come down a bit.
Regular blogging will (I promise*) come back next week.

*Ed Note: I may be lying, we’ll see how it goes.
Some really really great stuff at my online shop A Fistful of Vintage. All these items are slightly on the other side of my 37/38 measurements, so if you’re a 38-40 you have an opportunity for some truly spectacular stuff.
April 29th
Too early for patchwork madras pants?
In honor of the spring that never was/still hasn’t really been, here are some vintage Liberty of London floral ties 2 silk, 4 cotton.
It was kind of cold and windy, but IT HAS TO BE SPRING GODDAMMIT!

I was kind of going for jaunty. This look jaunty to you guys? I mean, it’s finally nice enough to go outside so I figured jaunty would be the appropriate jam (ed note: jaunt?)

Just a friendly reminder that spring summer items are beginning to file into A Fistful of Vintage. Some highlights?
Ties by Hermes, Sulka and Turnbull & Asser
Sport Coats in all manner of plaid (many more madras items to come as the weather warms up, if you’re thinking madras for this summer think AFoV.)
Suits rendered casually and lightweight for the summer months. Keep an eye out for some vintage Brooks Bros summerweight items to come in soon.
Also, I’ll be running a spring cleaning sale sometime in the next few weeks. No coupon code bullshit, just good old fashioned price cuts. I’ll announce it here, so keep your eyes peeled.
Best,
Alex (AFoS/AFoV)
I really like this purple tweed, and it strikes me a absolutely perfect for spring, but I haven’t quite figured out how to style it in the “right” way. Maybe it’s just that the dog won’t leave me alone for 5 minutes so I can take pictures of myself (#firstdogblogproblems).
Also, if you match your woven belt to your woven strap loafers is that an easter egg or do I need to wait until next week? (LOL PUNS!)

Different as night and day.
Many of you know that my style is a far cry from “sleek”. I’m generally into bright colors, aggressive pattern mixing, and your basic “lack of good taste” type looks. But what you may not know is that I’m a fan of going out, and when I go out at night, even to the undiscerning bars of Portland ME, I like to look the part.
So that involves just a smidge of sleekness. In this case I swap brown for black, color for grayscale, overcoat for boss sauce fur collared pea coat.
Two looks different as night and day.
But really fairly similar.
