Orange you glad I wore black watch pants?
[Ed. Note: They’re not quite black watch, just very close. BUT I KNOW YOU ALL LOVE PUNS SO MUCH]

I like this outfit, so I wear it periodically. Also variations in the same color scheme.
Bonus blogger points for getting foliage in the foreground thus making it look like someone else was taking the picture and I was being ultra nonchalant.

Teal and Orange? Check and Check Plaid.
Orange and teal is one of my girlfriends favorite color combos. I agree with her wholeheartedly.
In other news I (against my better judgement) am going to put prices paid again. People really seem to like that and I’ve only been getting like 2 notes on these. APPRECIATE ME MORE INTERNET!

Better shot of the patchwork foulard tie.
I’m not really a fan of foulards, but I’m a huge fan of patchwork. We’ll see if I get converted.
In other news after finding a pair of vtg. burgundy longwings the other day I’m officially out of space for my shoes. I’m going to be doing a post series about developing a core wardrobe and what goes into building that (from scratch if you’re thrifting, or even if you have a bunch of stuff already). That should be up… let’s say by the end of summer. Maybe I’ll work on it during my vacation (Ed. Note: I will not be working on this during my vacation).

In a somewhat strange twist of fate the twilight hour was perfect for a quick snap on a quiet side street.
However, my new patchwork foulard tie (I know, right?) was blurry in every close up shot.
You’ll just have to wait to see that one internet.

Olive & Orange: Redux.
This jacket is a great medium weight hopsack. It’s appropriate up to about 70 degrees, unfortunately I’ve worn it exclusively on days when the weatherman has been off by 10 degrees or so. Another unfortunately hot day.
Otherwise, I just really like these colors on days both cloudy and sunny. Today was both.

Casual Fribsday: Vol 2. (3?)
I’ve written in the past about how the various formality rules of clothing don’t really figure into my life the way they might for people with corporate jobs or English manor roots. However, there are elements of “formal” dress that fascinate me. I love to throw black tie parties in my apartment, just so I have (and can offer to others) the chance to get dressed up.
So I’ve worn a tux several times in the last year, but a suit only once. I just never really find occasion to wear a suit unless I’m heckling a billionaire. Suits seem more like a daytime thing and I always feel slightly off when I’m just wearing one for no reason, (even at work the day I wore a suit I got mistaken for an auditor [my expression at work was not as sour as in the photo]).
But I’m the adventurous type, so I have decided to try out this “casual suiting” business. It was 50 degrees today so I figured a casual suit could be the foundation for a good spring look (I ditched the scarf and hat shortly after leaving the house. Normally I pair this glen plaid jacket with jeans or something to that effect, but today I went with the whole thingamado. The suit has a faint orange overcheck that I just grabbed and ran with. Some leather & copper bracelets keep it as far to the casual side. And you can’t see it, but I matched my woven tassel loafers to my woven belt (to my woven bracelets), I even unbuttoned my button-down collar, because I blog #menswear. Namean?

I had so many goddamn ideas on how I was going to write up this outfit.
I was going to talk about pairing different brown tones and making a statement with your accessorizing colors.
I was going to write about matching your scarf to another color in your ensemble.
I was going to discuss this awesome jacket and its 4” lapels.
But I get back and for the first time ever all the stuff on my dash is orange, thunder=stolen…
FEEL PITTI FOR ME!

Another day of unseasonably warm weather. This was a bit too warm, but I love orange/brown as a fall color scheme. I brought a scarf, but it was superfluous since the mercury had climbed to just shy of 65(!) degrees.
I thought of using gray/orange, but that usually makes me look a bit pallid because the lighter gray tone washes out in conjunction with the vibrant orange. I think the richness of the brown is a better compliment.
B-Roll of with the scarf posted next, lemme know what you think.
Details.
I find a tweed sport coat even more essential (to my wardrobe) than a navy blazer during F/W. Aside from pairing beautifully with dark denim (a F/W staple for most I’d suspect), tweed has so much more texture and (potentially) wonderful color.
Take this Brown Harris Tweed woven with green and burnt orange in it. Pairs very well with an autumnal forest green gingham and bright orange sweater as the more vibrant colors play off the more muted colors in the tweed.
Denim and tweed. Think about it!
